The J.H. Heafner Company, Inc. acquires Commonwealth Tire, adding two locations.

1997

The J.H. Heafner Company, Inc. acquires the 132-store chain Oliver & Winston, Inc. and secures mezzanine investors - Brown Brothers, Harriman & Company and Commercial Bank - to facilitate acquisition.

The J.H. Heafner Company, Inc. pioneers Wheel Wizard program allowing dealers to visually install a variety of wheels on vehicles to demonstrate product views to customers.

American Tire Distributors acquires Samaritan Wholesale Tire Company ("Samaritan Tire"). This expanded American Tire Distributors' service across Minnesota and into western Wisconsin.

Envizio is launched as a web site where customers can log on to "envision" their vehicle with a new set of custom wheels. The site provides users with the ability to rotate their customized vehicle 360 degrees to view it all from all angles. Customers can also choose an OE or custom paint color, take an on-line photo, put the vehicle in their on-line garage, email the image to a friend, and much more.

American Tire Distributors acquires Jim Paris Tire City of Montebello, Inc. ("Jim Paris Tire"). This expands American Tire Distributors' service across the entire state of Colorado.
